June 2010 Bulletin - Parents-Please Read!

Dear Families,

This will be my last message for this 2009-2010 school year.

I contracted C-Diff again towards the end of the school year and am currently being treated. I did not know I had the infection, although I had some of the symptoms.

Your child's Communication Arts portfolio will be available to pick up from the school's office beginning Monday, June 14. It includes many of your child's major projects, some daily work, an award and a letter from me.

Also, DVDs of SMS Seventh Grade Mustang pictures will be available for $3 each from the office. The DVDs can be uploaded on your computer, shared and printed from a home computer or from Target, Walgreen's, Costco, etc. many events, candids, and assemblies where seventh graders participated are featured as well as the end of the year activities.

I am sending out a postcard this week as well. I asked students to fill out a mailing label the last day of school.

As you may have heard, I will not be returning next year to Saeger. As my mother continues to decline, I will be spending part of the summer and until she passes to help care for her. Her primary physician felt she would not make it through the spring. She is suffering from Alzheimer's and a number of medical problems, but has been incredibly strong. I value whatever time I have with her at this point of time. After she passes, I will most likely then return to school to work on my Masters degree.

I have enjoyed your children immensely this year and have seen incredible growth. I have enjoyed their writing, and witnessed great work and effort on their part to prepare themselves for eighth grade. It has been a joy to get to know them as individuals and I wish each and every family the best of luck and hope to hear from you occasionally. I will miss being in the classroom and working with your children.

My school account was closed on June 3rd. I can be reached by e-mail at renekillpack@yahoo.com or you may call me at 636-922-7101 if you need to reach me. I hope to set up a family blog soon as well.

To my students-have a wonderful and safe summer with your families.

Very Sincerely,

Mrs. René Phillippe-Killpack

In the near future, I plan to return to school to pursue certification in TSOL/ELL. I want to personally express my heartfelt thanks to all the families that supported their child in school this year, in making their academic success a priority, and being there for them. Parenting is hard work, but our children are worth it.

With great appreciation,

Mrs. Rene' Phillippe-Killpack
